Savory Ham and Cheese Stuffed Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 200g (7 oz) thinly sliced ham
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (optional)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. - Prepare the Bread:
- Slice the bread in a crisscross pattern without cutting all the way through to the bottom. You want to create a grid of small squares that you can stuff.
- Mix the Garlic Butter:
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. - Stuff the Bread:
- Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using) between the slices of bread for extra flavor.
- Stuff the shredded mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and ham slices into the cuts in the bread, ensuring the fillings are distributed evenly.
- Brush with Garlic Butter:
Use a pastry brush to coat the top of the bread with the prepared garlic butter mixture. - Wrap and Bake:
Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil to prevent it from drying out and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. - Uncover and Broil:
- Unwrap the foil and broil the bread for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the top is golden brown. Watch closely to avoid burning.
- Serve Warm:
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm as an appetizer, side dish, or snack.
Enjoy this cheesy, savory delight with a dip of your choice or alongside a bowl of soup
