Air Fryer Hunter’s Chicken Recipe
Hunter’s Chicken, also known as Chicken Chasseur, is a classic dish with a delicious combination of chicken, barbecue sauce, and cheese. Making it in an air fryer keeps it easy and quick while retaining all the flavor!
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8 slices of streaky bacon
- 1 cup (240 ml) barbecue sauce (your favorite variety)
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Wrap the Chicken in Bacon
- Wrap each chicken breast with two slices of streaky bacon, ensuring the ends are tucked underneath to secure them.
- Air Fry the Chicken
- Place the wrapped chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook for 15–18 minutes, turning halfway through, until the chicken is almost cooked through (internal temperature should be around 160°F/71°C).
- Add Sauce and Cheese
- Brush a generous amount of barbecue sauce over the top of each chicken breast. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the sauce.
- Return to the air fryer and cook for another 3–5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Serve
- Carefully remove the chicken from the air fryer. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot with sides like mashed potatoes, green beans, or a simple salad.
Tips
- Use low-sugar barbecue sauce for a healthier version.
- For a smoky twist, try adding a dash of liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce.
- If you want extra crispiness on the bacon, cook it separately for a few minutes in the air fryer before wrapping the chicken.
Enjoy your perfectly cooked Air Fryer Hunter’s Chicken!
