Cheesy Potato Bake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 2 cups (200g) shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend of your choice)
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for added flavor)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch (23x33cm) baking dish with butter.
2. Prepare the Cream Mixture:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika. Heat until just warm but not boiling, then remove from heat.
3. Assemble the Dish:
- Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish, slightly overlapping them.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the layer.
4. Add the Second Layer:
- Arrange the remaining potatoes on top.
- Pour the rest of the cream mixture over the second layer of potatoes.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
5. Bake the Potatoes:
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
6. Garnish and Serve:
- Remove the dish from the oven and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to cool slightly.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.
