Cream Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Doritos Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 bag (11 oz / 310 g) of Doritos (flavor of your choice, Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch works well)
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (120 g) cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/4 cup (25 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil works best)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Filling:
- In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Stir until well combined.
2. Prep the Doritos:
- Carefully cut or split open the side of each Dorito chip to create a small pocket. Be gentle to avoid breaking the chips.
3. Stuff the Doritos:
- Using a small spoon or piping bag, stuff a small amount of the cream cheese mixture into each chip pocket. Be careful not to overfill to prevent tearing. Press the opening gently to seal.
4. Chill the Stuffed Chips:
- Place the stuffed Doritos on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for about 20-30 minutes to firm up the filling.
5. Heat the Oil:
- In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
6. Fry the Doritos:
- Working in small batches, fry the stuffed Doritos for 20-30 seconds per side or until golden brown and crisp. Be cautious not to fry too long, as the chips cook quickly.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the Doritos from the oil and drain on paper towels.
