Garlic Flatbreads Recipe
These soft and flavorful garlic flatbreads are perfect as a side dish or a base for toppings.
Ingredients:
- For the Dough:
- 2 ½ cups (310g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm water
- 3 tbsp plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- For the Garlic Butter:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2–3 garlic cloves, finely minced or grated
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
- Add warm water, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Garlic Butter:
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter with minced garlic and parsley (if using). Set aside.
- Shape the Flatbreads:
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a ball and flatten into an oval or round shape, about ¼-inch thick.
- Cook the Flatbreads:
- Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes on one side until bubbles form and the bottom develops golden spots. Flip and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes.
- Add the Garlic Butter:
- Immediately brush the hot flatbreads with garlic butter on both sides.
- Serve:
- Serve warm as a side for curries, soups, or salads. These also make great wraps for sandwiches!
Tips:
- You can use dried herbs like oregano or basil for extra flavor.
- Store leftover flatbreads in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet for best results.
