Mexican Shrimp Cocktail (Cóctel de Camarón)
This refreshing and flavorful dish is perfect as an appetizer or light meal. It’s packed with plump shrimp, tangy tomato sauce, fresh veggies, and a hint of spice.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb shrimp (peeled, deveined, and cooked)
- 1 cup clamato juice (or tomato juice)
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (like Valentina or Cholula)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
- 1/2 cup tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup avocado, diced
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the shrimp: If using raw shrimp, boil them for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink, then transfer to an ice bath. Drain and pat dry.
- Mix the sauce: In a large bowl, combine clamato juice, ketchup, lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
