Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Tuna Melt Balls — a fun twist on the classic tuna melt!
Tuna Melt Balls
Ingredients:
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or any cheese you prefer)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil (for frying or baking)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven (if baking):
- If you want to bake the tuna melt balls instead of frying, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Tuna Mixture:
- In a large bowl, mix the drained tuna, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Stir everything together until well combined and the mixture holds together when shaped.
- Shape the Balls:
- Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls (about 1-2 inches in diameter).
- If desired, roll the tuna balls in extra breadcrumbs for a crispier texture.
- Cook the Tuna Melt Balls:
- For frying: Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the tuna melt balls in batches, turning occasionally, until they’re golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- For baking: Place the tuna melt balls on the prepared baking sheet and lightly brush with olive oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- Serve the tuna melt balls warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like ketchup, tartar sauce, or a spicy mayo.
These Tuna Melt Balls are crispy on the outside, cheesy on the inside, and make a great appetizer or snack!
