Here’s a simple and delicious Western Omelet recipe:
Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tbsp milk (optional, for fluffier eggs)
- 1 tbsp butter or cooking oil
- ¼ cup diced ham
- ¼ cup green bell pepper, diced
- ¼ cup red bell pepper, diced
- ¼ cup onion, diced
- ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prep the Ingredients: Dice the ham, bell peppers, and onion. Set them aside.
- Whisk the Eggs: In a bowl, whisk the eggs and milk (if using) together. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Sauté the Vegetables and Ham:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Add the butter or oil to the skillet.
- Add the diced ham, green and red bell peppers, and onion. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are soft and the ham is slightly browned. Remove the ham and veggies from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the Eggs:
- Pour the whisked eggs into the skillet and let them cook for 1-2 minutes, gently pushing the edges toward the center with a spatula, allowing the uncooked eggs to flow to the edges.
- When the eggs are mostly set but still slightly runny on top, add the sautéed ham and vegetables to one side of the omelet.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the ham and veggies.
- Fold and Finish: Carefully fold the other half of the omelet over the filling. Let it cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the eggs are fully set.
- Serve: Slide the omelet onto a plate and serve hot. You can garnish with fresh herbs or more cheese if you like.
Enjoy your Western Omelet for breakfast or brunch!
